This week we feature some fantastic games that you won’t want to miss: Dark Nebula, Sailboat Championship and World of Tunes.
Dark Nebula is one game you shouldn’t miss for free. We gave it a B when we covered it and three months later we would still describe it as “an exquisitely designed 10 level accelerometer gauntlet.” The included levels are composed of numerous traps and obstacles such as spiked wheels, bullet traps, moving walls and jump pads, which take good reactions and a decent memory to pass. The tilt controls work perfectly and the new scoreboards keep you on your toes.
Episode two is coming out soon and will be available as DLC within the game so make sure you pick it up while it’s free over the weekend.
Play as steersman, yachtsman or skipper in this precision-perfect sailing game. Each of the three jobs have different control schemes and present a unique challenge as you sail against time around the course. Realistically the wind plays a huge part into where your boat travels, so it’s important to keep a look out on its direction. The game contains eight main levels as well as various tutorials and bonus levels which boost the total count up to 15 levels. To add a little competition the game also features OpenFeint with scoreboards and achievements.

Sailboat Championship is permanently free, although a paid version with more levels will eventually be released.
Rhythm games are popular on the iPhone but World of Tunes was really the first to introduce a full storyline, and a slightly different gameplay style to the genre. Contrary to other games where the notes come towards you, in World of Tunes the “Tuneys” bounce up in time to the music and you need to tap them at the correct point before they drop. People have deemed it to be the closest to Elite Beat Agents on the iPhone, and we think they’re right. Check out the developer’s video below to see a slice of the gameplay:
With 14 tracks and four modes, World of Tunes is a game you’ll want to grab for free, and make sure you do download it before the weekend because it’ll be back up to £1.79 then.
