It’s the first Three For Free Friday of the year and we have Rhythm Racer, Blockoban and Renegade Rubies showcased.
Audiosurf is a game that would work amazingly well on the iPhone, but unfortunately due to software restrictions it’s unlikely to come any time soon. Luckily we have Rhythm Racer to satisfy our Audiosurf needs until that time comes. While the game doesn’t allow you to play your own tracks, it does offer a similar, and enjoyable, experience. Tilting your device moves the ship side-to-side so you can hit the notes and fly up ramps to collect bonus rings. There is one track available to play for free, and another you can buy through DLC for 59p.

Blockoban is a try and buy puzzle game from the makers of Moonlights. Your aim is to clear all the blocks from the screen by sliding them to the correct spots. The catch is, there is no friction. Any block you slide will keep going until it reaches a wall, or another block. This makes the game interesting, and many of the levels tremendously hard.
The game contains a “Kickoff” level pack to try out with 100 levels and two other modes; Time Attack and Map Generator. If you manage to complete all of the 100 levels and still want more you can download another 820 via DLC for £1.19, which is really a bargain. If your into puzzle games we definitely recommend you try this one out.
At a glance Renegade Rubies looks like a Boulder Dash clone, but while it takes elements from the classic, it has its own flavour. You control a trapped explorer who is stuck in a gem-filled cave, but luckily if you push two gems together they disappear. Throughout the 40 levels you’ll figure out ways to scramble to the exit using the gems themselves and other objects such as teleporters and switches.

We were a little sceptical of the game at first but after playing just a few levels we were hooked. For free there’s no reason not to grab this game.
