Three For Free Friday 17

Feature by Tom Grimes, March 05, 2010

Mole - Quest for the Terracore gem!, Timeloop and Secret of Lost Pyramid are three of the best games you’ll get for free this week.

Mole - Quest for the Terracore gem!

We reviewed this game when it first came out and found its casual gameplay highly compelling. Mole pays many attributes to Dig Dug and Motherload, but it’s been perfectly designed for the iPhone. Intuitive touch controls are used to move your character and collect gems and metals to help you dig your way to the Terracore gem. Metal is used to buy upgrades for your character so you survive longer underground, dig faster and find more precious rocks.

Mole is a very enjoyable game that is so easy and so rewarding that you’ll keep playing until the end. We recommended it at £1.19 so for free it’s a no-brainer. Roo Games are giving away the game to promote it at GDC so it will remain free until the 14th.

Timeloop

Timeloop is another game we reviewed a while back and gave it a B for its unique puzzle gameplay that’ll make you see double! Your aim is save the scientist in each level by solving the puzzles along the way. The key here is the fact that you can create loops of your character, so you can use one loop to repair a broken lock, and then the next loop can walk through the door to save the scientist. It’s a game full of time bending puzzles that are more complex than they seem.

The game contains 32 levels, each of which you can receive a gold, silver or bronze medal for, adding to the content level. If you’re a fan of puzzle games then you should definitely pick this up for free over the weekend.

Secret of Lost Pyramid

If you’ve ever played UNO you’ll know how addictive it is, even as a card game. Well Secret of Lost Pyramid is essentially UNO with a beautiful Mayan theme. First you’ll play through the campaign mode where you have to retrieve precious treasure by winning against ancient pyramid guards in this matching tile game. Admittedly this mode is a little short, but after completing it you unlock free play mode. Here your aim isn’t to win matches, but to try and gain the highest score you can while stopping your opponent from winning. It’s a terrific twist on the game and is a lot of fun.

Secret of Lost Pyramid also has a wonderful presentation with slick 3D graphics and music to match. The game is free for a limited time so pick it up while you can!
