What can be said about tangram puzzles that hasn’t already been said? They’re easy to play but hard to master, and we’ve covered a couple here. LetsTans has a few tricks of its own however—you can play the classic mode but it is the replica and arcade mode that are fairly unique for this type of puzzle.

Both of these fill the screen with pieces, and depending on the mode you’ll either have to fit a silhoutte around the seven pieces that fit it, or find and tap seven pieces to form the shape. Of these modes the arcade one is more fun, but the classic variant is the original and still the best. You’ll most likely stick with the classic mode, especially as all three modes share the same 64 levels, making 192 total. Even if you count the other 128 as unique levels, that is still far less than the competition which has been around a lot longer.

The presentation looks good as it makes uses of many of the Apple standard buttons and controls for its user interface. Menu screens scroll with a slick fluidity and everything is seamlessly animated. We’re not so fond of the multicoloured pieces but they make sense for the two new modes.

LetsTans is a solid tangram clone that does everything right—it has a clean presentation, save state for multiple puzzles and it also has new modes that make a change from the traditional game of this class. However, it is also late into the game, where we have tangram clones everywhere, many of which have a larger variety of puzzles. It is also possible that you will have burnt out on all the tangram puzzles there are if you purchased something like TanZen, as many here are very similar if not the same. If you on the other hand have not picked up a tangram game this is still a good one to get.

Grade: C, Good

A solid tangram game even if it is late to the party.

A light, easy game that’s fun for a few minutes. But there’s far better puzzle games out there.

Why not try...
