A while ago we played a flash game called Ragdoll Cannon and Backflip Studios have taken the concept of the game, improved it and put it perfectly onto the iPhone. Ragdoll Blaster is a game all about firing jelly-limbed rag dolls out of a cannon in order to solve puzzles, which is a bizarre combination but works surprisingly well to create a polished and fun experience.

You may be firing brainless rag dolls in this game but in order to complete levels you need to use yours!

In order to solve the puzzles you must get a rag doll to touch the target, which is easy in the first few levels but as you progress the levels introduce many different elements. To fire a rag doll from your cannon you simply tap the screen exactly where you want to fire, you can also drag your finger around on the screen first, to aim, and then release to fire if you want to be more accurate. To help you the game also saves where you last aimed so you can alter your next shot. The later levels require you to fire multiple rag dolls to push cubes, turn cogs and even move vehicles in order to hit the target. There is a huge variety in the levels and your cannon isn't always stationary, sometimes it is loose or even attached to other objects. You may be firing brainless rag dolls in this game but in order to complete levels you need to use yours!

The graphics in Ragdoll Blaster are simplistic but the graph paper style background and hand drawn objects look great and give the game it's own style. The sounds are good and the music is pretty catchy although it can become repetitive, luckily you can turn it off and listen to your own iPod music instead. The physics in a game like Ragdoll Blaster have to be good and luckily they are; the game even shows off how good they are by letting the whole level drop off the screen once you complete it, which is also very satisfying. The whole game also runs very smoothly with no lag so you can concentrate on solving the puzzles without the game messing up on you.

This is an extremely addictive game with a huge amount of content. It has a total of 104 levels, which you could try and speed through and complete with giant amount of rag dolls, but the fun and challenge is completing the levels with as little rag dolls as possible. The online highscore board adds some competition to the game and keeps you going back to improve your level scores. The games simple controls and fun gameplay makes this a perfect game for the iPhone and is easy for anyone to pick up and play. We think the way the difficulty level slowly increases as you play through the game is good and the different objects and level designs are extremely creative and fun to play. We think that even people who aren't fond of puzzle games will enjoy this game because it puts a fun element into a genre which can be boring to some.
