How do you grade a game as simple as Shot Shot Shoot? A game in which you have to defend five of your own blocks whilst trying to shoot down five of your opponents? Minimal it may be but the game takes full advantage of the iPad’s large screen to deliver a competitive experience that’s perfect for a duel against a friend; or even the AI opposition.
The black squares in the bottom corner denote how much ammunition you have left; you are automatically given some every time the small bar ticks down and refills itself, but you can gain more by passing your shot through the black squares in the middle. You can also control the direction of your last shot by sliding your finger on your playing area—fingers aren’t allowed towards the middle. Firing multiple shots at once carries a penalty in that each shot slows down the whole wave, but it can be an effective strategy so long as you have enough rounds left to counter an enemy attack.

Colours are chosen randomly, the game keeps track of your cumulative score, and Shot Shot Shoot also comes with some really good music to accompany you whether you’re playing a friend or one of two difficulty modes for the AI. It’s in fact really good fun and there are quite a few strategic possibilities too, plus with rounds being incredibly brief it’s hard not to pick it up again and again. Don’t be fooled by the minimal presentation, because we can see ourselves dueling with this one for a long time to come.
Shot Shot Shoot is a must for those looking for a good head to head match; though some may be put off by its minimal features and sparing lack of modes.

Kometen is arsty, classy and one really to be experienced rather than played per se; but definitely a title that you should buy.
