There’s all kinds of ways to dismember zombies with many game developers keen to show us just how you’d go about protecting yourself against the undead. Squish The Zombies is a fun title that places the undead on a ski slope; you can then run them all over with a snow ball that gets gradually bigger as it travels down the slope.

In the Blitz mode you have to squish as many as you can within 60 seconds; there’s nothing stopping the inevitable splat of zombies as they yield to your snowy onslaught. The Arcade mode, however, has obstacles that can cut the size of your ball should you run into them; if you’re big enough you can flatten them without losing too much but if you’re not quite as big you will lose a fair bit and also will vault over the house or ramp. You can also obtain a power up that will turn your ball into an invincible metal construction! Run into too many obstacles and you’ll lose the game, for a small snowball is easily stopped by anything that’s not one of the undead.

Landing on something when you’ve been in the air gives you a bonus depending on the size of the object; you’ll score much more if you land in a house, for example. The game uses OpenFeint to track scores, too. But the presentation leaves a little to be desired; one splat sound and no music, plus the graphics can be very repetitive. When you consider that the developer’s previous zombie title had a great variety of different humans to infect and a great soundtrack this one just doesn’t look very good next to it.

The developer is off to a good start with this one, but unfortunately we would hesitate to recommend it. The game just lacks the variety and presentation of Infect Them All, and whilst you can enjoy playing through the Blitz mode happily trying to beat 400 (harder than it looks) the game doesn’t really offer much after that.

Grade: D, Mediocre

Rolling a ball of snow down a slope can be good fun; unless you’re a zombie. However the game gets repetitive and won’t stay on your device for long.

Infect Them All, B

Although it’s repetitive, Infect Them All is a fun little game in which you, finally, wage war for the zombies instead of against them.

Why not try...
