Touch123! is an arcade game in which you have to destroy an alien force that wants to take over the Earth. Sporting cute, cartoon visuals the game looks good; it just doesn’t play as well as it looks.

To rid the Earth of the alien invasion you must tap aliens three times; either a single one thrice or three different aliens one time each. Of course you can only chain three together that are of the same colour, but there are a number of power ups that you can chain together with the aliens to rack up a large number of kills. In addition, you can shake the device to enable the ‘music mode’ which makes all the aliens dance on the spot, therefore making them easy targets; you get three of these to wield whenever you feel the need.

Whilst you can get a semblance of what may be going on often it’s just confusing.

Problem is, the game just isn’t fun; aliens move quickly and sometimes you can feel like you’re just tapping the screen at random as you miss your target. Many things about the game aren’t clear as the instructions are written in broken English and whilst you can get a semblance of what may be going on often it’s just confusing. After several separate sessions with the game we still came away more irritated than pleased with the game’s experience; we don’t want games to hold our hands all the way through but it’s difficult when the instructions aren’t clear enough. These are problems that should have been caught in the beta testing phase.

Overall, the game feels rushed out; just like T Raiders there’s almost nothing at all on the developer’s website to support the game and whilst it’s 99¢ you can do so much better. Let’s hope that the developer can return to the previous standard that they set with Devil Invasion because we can’t recommend this one.

Grade: D, Mediocre

A weak attempt at an arcade puzzle game; unfortunately we can’t recommend this one.

Rotation alone isn’t enough to make this one stand out; T Raiders hardly comes across as novel.

Good fun; controls well, but the predominantly match three gameplay needs a touch more originality.

Why not try...
